Supplies needed to make Marry Me Butter Beans
- A large pan for sautéing your onions in butter and sun-dried tomato oil.
- A spoon for stirring.
- Measuring cups and spoons for measuring out your spices and liquids.
- A can opener for opening the cans of butter beans.
Ingredients

Butter and Sun-dried Tomato Oil – The butter and sun-dried tomato oil builds the base and helps sauté the onion and garlic without burning.
Garlic – I used minced jarlic, but you can use whatever garlic you have on hand!
Onion – Finely chopped onion adds texture and sweetness and softens more while the sauce cooks.
Bouillon Base – I used chicken flavored Better Than Bouillon but you can always swap it for a vegetarian base instead.
Sun-Dried Tomatoes – Jullienned sun-dried tomatoes bring a tangy-sweet flavor that is a must for the recipe.
Butter Beans – A family favorite for many years, four cans of butter beans make this dish heart and filling.
Heavy Cream and Shredded Parmesan – This helps create the rich, creamy sauce.
Seasonings – Onion powder, garlic powder, and oregano round out the flavor. And, of course, salt and pepper to taste.

How to make Marry Me Butter Beans

First, heat the butter and sun-dried tomato oil together in a large skillet over medium heat.
Next, add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet and sauté together until the onions are translucent. This takes about 5 minutes.
Then, add your onion powder, garlic powder, and dried oregano to the pan, stirring in until you can smell the oregano.
After that, drain and add the butter beans along with the water. Add your bouillon base and sun-dried tomatoes and stiry everything together and bring to a gentle simmer. Let it cook for about 10 minutes, giving the butter beans time to soak up all the flavor.
Finally, lower the heat and stir in the heavy cream and parmesan cheese until the parmesan cheese has melted and your sauce becomes smooth. Let simmer for a few more minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.

Serving Suggestions
This dish pairs so good with a few simple sides:
- Crusty bread
- Steamed broccoli
- A handful of spinach

- Perfect on its own

Tips
- Be sure to drain your butter beans before adding them to the sauce so the sauce doesn’t become too watery
- Don’t over stir the beans because you may break the beans up too much
- If you like a thick sauce, let simmer a few extra minutes uncovered before adding the heavy cream.
- Swap out the chicken bouillon base for a vegetable base.
- Leftover parmesan works great in the sauce.
