How to make Easy Cheesy Garlic Pull Apart Bread

First, begin with preparing your bread. Cut it into a cross hatch design, or up and down the bread. You just don’t want to cut all the way to the bottom! place your bread on a parchment paper lined baking sheet.

Then, begin stuffing your shredded cheese into the cracks of each slice. Be sure to disperse your cheese evenly.

Next, melt your butter in a microwave safe bowl and mix together your seasonings and melted butter. You can basted or spoon your butter and seasoning mixture over the bread, focusing on getting the mixture over and into each crack.

Finally, place your bread in the oven and wait for it to become slightly toasted on the outside. Your cheese should be melted and the aromas coming from your oven should smell buttery and garlicy.

Tips

  • You can use any cheese for this recipe! I used shredded white cheddar cheese. Other cheeses that would be great would be mozzarella, monterey, colby, and mild cheddar.
  • If you don’t have butter, you can use a neutral tasting oil instead.

FAQs

The key ingredients are Italian loaf of bread, cheese, butter, and seasonings.

Once cooled, place in storage bag and place in the fridge for up to 4 days.

Absolutely! You could use monterey, colby, mild cheddar, mozzarella, or whatever cheese you have on hand!

If that cheese “stretch” isn’t important to you, the possibility is endless with different types of cheese flavors.

Additionally, it would be delicious as just a parmesan and garlic butter pull apart bread as well!

You can freeze freeze the bread before baking by following a few simple steps:

  • Following the recipe for cutting slits in the bread, prepare your bread for the butter and the cheese
  • Allow your butter to come to room temperature (instead of placing the butter in the microwave to melt) and mix your seasonings into your butter. Then, you can use a butter knife to place the butter mixture into each crevice and slice.
  • Instead of shredding the cheese, you can slice the cheese into thin slices and place a slice down into each crack. This may mean some cracks don’t end up with cheese!
  • Then, wrap your bread up in parchment paper, then wrap in aluminum foil, and place in a zip lock bag for freezing to eat at a later time.
  • To bake (if baking frozen), keep your bread wrapped in the aluminum foil and parchment paper, place on a cookie sheet, and bake on a low temperature until full cooked.
  • To bake (if baking thawed), keep your bread wrapped in the aluminum foil and parchment paper, place on a cookie sheet, and bake at 375 until fully melted and gooey.

Yes! The cheese may be a little more difficult to spread evenly amongst all the crevices but will be simpler to place between each crack when compared to shredded cheese.

Equipment

  • Serrated Knife
  • Parchment Paper
  • Cookie Sheet

Ingredients

  • 1 large Italian Loaf
  • 4 oz Shredded Cheese
  • ½ stick Butter melter
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp Dried Parsley Flakes
  • 1 tsp Oregano
  • Salt and Pepper to taste (I used 1/4 tsp each)

Instructions

  • Using a serrated knife, cut slits down your bread using a cross hatch-like design. Making the cuts wide enough to leave bite sized chunks of bread. I left about a 1"-2" space between each. No need to be perfect during this step! Just don't cut all the way through the bottom!
  • Once you've finished cutting your bread, begin gently stuffing the cracks of your loaf of bread with your shredded cheese.
  • Next, melt your butter in a microwave safe bowl. This only takes a few seconds in your microwave!
  • Stir all of your spices into your butter and begin spooning or basting over your bread, focusing on each opening.
  • Bake at 375 for about 10-20 minutes, depending on your oven and preferred doneness! We like our bread soft, warm, and melty. If you like your bread crunchy, go for a little longer than 10 minutes!
