Comes together fast – This recipe cooks in about 30 minutes, so it is perfect for a weeknight when you just don’t have a ton of time to cook.

Supplies needed to make Easy Asian Pork and Rice
- A large skillet for browning your pork and simmering sauce.
- I used a rice cooker to cook my rice while my meat was cooking but you could use a pot too.
- A small bowl for whisking together the sauce ingredients.
- Whisk or something to stir with.
Ingredients

Ground Pork – Ground pork browns up quickly and is very budget friendly.
Garlic Powder and Onion Powder – These season the pork so every bite has flavor cooked right in.
Toasted Sesame Oil – A little goes a long way here and I love adding this to any Asian inspired meal.
Soy Sauce – The base of the sauce, bringing that classic umami flavor.
Brown Sugar – Balances the saltiness of the soy sauce so well.
Chili Crunch Oil – Adds a kick of heat without it being too overwhelming. Feel free to adjust the amount up or down to suit your family’s spice preferences.
Minced Garlic and Ground Ginger – These round out the sauce, giving it depth.
Cornstarch (optional) – If a thicker sauce is preferred, make a quick cornstarch slurry to thicken the sauce!

How to make Easy Asian Pork and Rice

First, start cooking your rice according to the package instructions since it takes longer to cook than the pork and sauce.
Then, add your ground pork to a large skillet over medium heat and season it with the garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and sesame oil. Break the meat apart as it browns and cooks through.
Meanwhile, whisk together the soy sauce, water, brown sugar, chili crunch oil, onion powder, minced garlic, ground ginger, and sesame oil in a separate bowl. This makes sure the sauce is well combined before adding it to your browned ground pork.
Next, once the pork is fully cooked, drain any excess grease. Pour the sauce mixture directly into the skillet and stir everything together.
After that, let the pork and sauce simmer together for a couple of minutes so that the flavors can marry together and the sauce slightly reduces.
Finally, if you’d like a thick sauce, whisk together the cornstarch and cold water to make a slurry. Then, pour it in the pan as you stir the sauce into the skillet. Let it simmer for another few minutes until the sauce thickens up.
Lastly, spook the pork and sauce over your cooked rice, add a bag of steamed broccoli, and enjoy!

Tips
- If you don’t have chili crunch oil on hand, add a dash of sriracha or red pepper flakes and extra garlic is a good substitute!
- You can easily swap out ground pork for ground chicken, ground turkey, or even ground beef.
- For extra veggies, stiry in some steamed broccoli, shredded carrots, or sliced green onions before serving.
- This recipe is so versatile and works well for a quick dinner, meal prep, lunch boxes, or even lettuce wraps if you are skipping the rice.
